Corona Omicron sub-variant BF.7
Can this virulent BF.7 covid variety generate another wave in India, as has been warned following the recent covid spike in five other countries, including China, Japan, and the US? A rise in cases is being observed in countries like China, Japan, and the United States of America, and it is thought that BF.7, a subvariant of Omicron, is to blame. Omicron sub-variant BF.7 has only been found in four cases in India thus far.
Experts' opinions:
A stronger surveillance and vigilance are required in light of the increase in cases in several nations, according to specialists.
Dr. N. K. Arora, the chairperson of the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization, stated that the current Covid issue in India is under control and there are no immediate causes for concern (NTAGI).
However, he noted that everyone must act in a Covid-appropriate manner, and those who qualify should take the precautionary dose.
They added that it is unlikely that there will be another outbreak of severe Covid cases and hospitalisations because Indians have the benefit of "hybrid immunity," or natural immunity brought on by infection and enhanced by vaccination.
According to Dr. Randeep Guleria, "Overall, there is no increase in Covid caseload, and India is now in a comfortable state."
